Bio

Paul brings a rich and eclectic background to bear on his writing and work. Paul holds an MS in Chinese Medicine, and the holistic intuitions he honed during his 10 years working with patients keeps him always striving for the essential simplicity necessary to approach complex problems. His interest in Chinese Medicine began at age 18 alongside the practice of Qigong. This attraction to inner cultivation found expression in many other pursuits, including 2 years of study of the Feldenkrais Method in NYC, and a 4 month yoga intensive in India. This intensive was part of a 7 month trip to India and Nepal, and was followed by 2 years living in an ashram stateside studying Advaita Vedanta. He is currently a practitioner of a Nepalese tradition of Kashmir Saivism called Sarvamnaya.Paul also holds the better part of an MA in Cognitive Science from Teachers College, Columbia University. Though the completion of his thesis project was derailed by several factors, including COVID, he completed his coursework, which focused on embodied cognition and learning optimization. His exposure to the Communication Through Coherence (CTC) model fundamentally shaped his approach to understanding and working with compromised cognitive function and emotional regulation, primarily with respect to ADHD and trauma. In 2018, Paul had a handful of experiences with MDMA in which his lifelong challenges with ADHD and debilitating performance and social anxiety were shown to be inextricably linked to childhood trauma. This set him on another deep immersion, this time into the world of trauma. Now, some 7 years later, after receiving therapy from IFS, NARM, and other trauma-informed therapists, the incapacitating anxiety is completely resolved, and the ADHD is noticeably improved. This experience of realizing just how significantly trauma had affected him after a lifetime of downplaying it gave him a unique insight into the hidden role trauma can play in the domains of performance and achievement. The motivation behind most of his endeavors mentioned above has been to try to get to the bottom of what was wrong with him, and why his efforts to achieve always ended in failure.Once the trauma piece was worked through, things began to fall into place, and everything he had studied over the years began to gel. He is now working on synthesizing all that he's learned over these past 25 years into a holistic approach that can help others who have struggled in the same way he has recover their capacity for healthy, meaningful relationships and regain creative control of their lives.Paul holds a coaching certification from the Flow Research Collective, and is fully committed to helping those who have a strong desire to make this world a better place.
